JMU’s Computer Information Systems program is one out of 10 CIS programs in the nation that are accredited by both the AACSB and ABET.
- Baback Vaziri, Luis Novoa and Elham Torabi earned third place for the 2023 Teaching and Learning Publication Award.
- Professors Ping Wang and Raktim Pal eared third place for the 2023 Applied or Integration/Application Publication Award.
- Professor Raktim Pal earned third place for the 2023 Basic or Discovery Publication Award.
- Associate Professor Baback Vaziri was awarded the 2023 Kenneth R. Bartee Award or Teaching Innovation.
- Professor emeritus Susan Palocsay was named the 2022 recipient of the Provost Award for Distinguished Service.
- Luis Novoa was presented with the Provost Award for 2022 as the College of Business' Distinguished Teacher.
- The CIS 434 IT Consulting course involves over 25 firms who mentor, teach and judge student work. Over the last five years, these firms have later hired 240 CIS graduates and provided over 75 internships to CIS majors.
- Every year, CIS faculty and students share their excitement in the field of computer information systems and cultivate the interests of young people in future business and technology related careers during CyberDay. Since their inception, CyberDay and CyberCity have provided learning experiences for over 800 students and 100 teachers.
