IA Student Ambassador
Class of 2027 (May)
Minor: Military Leadership (Army ROTC)
Student Clubs and Organizations: Army ROTC and ALD (Honors Society) Exec Member
Why did you become an ambassador?
I became an ambassador because I wanted to help students feel more comfortable and confident in the IA program. As someone brand-new to IA and related industries, I was a little intimidated when I first arrived at the program. So, when I had the opportunity to become an ambassador, I knew I wanted to help new students navigate their uncertainties. I have always valued having older mentors and people to look up to and I knew I wanted to be able to be that person to someone, just like others had been to me.
Why IA?
I chose IA because I have always wanted to work in a three-letter agency, ideally the FBI or DEA, and I felt the IA curriculum would prepare me best for this. I was also very impressed and intrigued by the professor's background and wanted to learn from professionals with diverse disciplines and experiences.
What do you enjoy most about the program?
My favorite part of my program is that, for almost every class, you get to choose the specific topics you work on. This allows you to explore your personal interests and deepen your expertise across various subjects. It is also so cool to see what interests other students have, and I always learn so much from listening to their projects and ideas.
Favorite class or project
My favorite class was Dr. Pili’s IA 280: Introduction to Geospatial Intelligence. The assignments in that class were so fun, including geolocating a picture of a random statue, identifying ships in a Russian port, and more. I had no experience with geospatial intelligence before this class, but I learned so much valuable information that I have been able to apply to other projects and classes.
