Are you considering the Intelligence Analysis major at JMU?

Admission to JMU is your first step, but because the IA program is in high demand, admission to the university does not automatically guarantee a spot in the major.

While we work hard to accommodate all students who declare IA when they enter JMU, space in the program may be limited to ensure every student receives personalized guidance and the hands-on learning experiences that define our program.

To continue in the major, students must take the foundational courses listed below and earn a grade of C or higher in each class.
  • IA 150: Introduction to Intelligence Analysis
  • IA 200: Introduction to National Security Intelligence
  • IA 240: Technology Applications in a Networked World
  • IA 261: Hypothesis Testing

If more than 58 students meet that standard, the top students, based on their average grades in IA 200, IA 240, and IA 261, are able to continue.

For full details, refer to the JMU Catalog.
