Why did you become an ambassador?

I became an Intelligence Analysis Ambassador because I wanted to give back to a program that has played a huge role in my experience at JMU. Some of my most valuable opportunities have come from getting involved beyond the classroom through research, working with faculty, and connecting with other students. I want to help students discover those opportunities and make the most of their time in the IA program and at JMU.

What do you enjoy most about the program?
What I enjoy most about the IA program is the freedom to explore your own interests. Many professors allow you to choose topics, regions, or issues that you are interested in and want to learn more about, giving you the freedom to explore. I also enjoy the small class sizes which allows you to become really close with your cohort and professors.

Who has been an influential professor, mentor, or advisor for you at JMU? Dr. Pili has been one of the most influential people during my time at JMU. He has pushed me to take what I learn in class and apply it to real-world research, which has led to opportunities I never expected to have as a student. I have learned a lot from him as both a professor and mentor, and his guidance has helped shape who I want to be in the future.

What is something you love to do outside of class? Playing intramural sports, going to the gym, spending time with friends, and being outdoors whenever I get the chance.
