- Additional immunizations may be necessary depending on individual health history and program requirements.
Textbooks
- Costs depend on student preferences (e.g., physical books vs. eBooks, purchase vs. rental).
- Some textbooks are used across multiple semesters and are recommended for purchase, as noted in syllabi and communicated by faculty.
- Estimated cost: $400–$500 per semester during the first year, with reduced expenses in the second year after core texts are acquired.
Professional Association Memberships
- Certain courses require membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) to access required texts and exclusive member resources.
Housing & Living Expenses
- Costs vary based on location and lifestyle choices.
- During the on-campus portion of the program, students should budget for local housing and living expenses.
- During Level II Fieldwork (final 6 months), housing costs may fluctuate depending on the geographic location of assigned fieldwork sites.
Transportation
- A reliable vehicle is typically necessary for commuting to classes, fieldwork sites, and occasional field trips.
- Students should budget for gas, maintenance, and insurance.
- Campus parking requires a paid permit, currently priced at $300 per academic year.
Computer & Technology Expenses
- Students must have access to a reliable computer or laptop and high-speed internet to support coursework and communication throughout the program.
- Office 365 is provided free of charge to all JMU students.
Fieldwork-Related Costs
