My Career Journey
Everything happens for a reason, and I firmly believe that as I look back on my career journey. I’m proud to call myself a “double Duke”! I began as an undergrad in Hospitality Management and later returned to JMU for my master’s in College Student Personnel Administration. Before higher education, I worked in wine sales, where I loved building relationships with local restaurants in the Valley. While I thoroughly enjoyed talking (and tasting!) wine, I realized I wanted to make an impact in a different way — which led me to pivot into student affairs. As an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor, I helped students navigate applications and auditions for a small, private conservatory. That role confirmed I was headed in the right direction and opened doors to serve in alumni relations, academic advising, and ultimately career services. Every experience I’ve had informs the work I do today, and I feel so fortunate to support students as they discover their next right step.
