My Career Journey
I started my academic journey at JMU. I graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor's of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and a double minor in Sociology and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. During my time at JMU, I gained experience in peer academic advising, orientation, and academic intervention programs. These experiences helped me realize that I really enjoyed working and supporting college students, which led me to pursue a master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs!
After graduating from JMU, I attended Virginia Tech to pursue a Master's of Arts in Education (M.A.Ed) in Higher Education and Student Affairs. I completed this degree in 2024. During my time in grad school, I worked as the graduate assistant for Career and Professional Development at VT where I was able to advise students on a variety of different career development topics and was also able to support a few work-based learning programs we had in the office. Through my various practicum experiences in grad school, I also gained experience working with, and supporting, first-generation college students and creating career and professional development materials for Liberal Arts students.
After graduating from VT with my master's, I continued my work full-time as a career advisor at VT in Career and Professional Development, where I worked with students that are exploring majors and/or careers, students interested in data analytics/cybersecurity/information technology, and technology/engineering/manufacturing careers. Now, I'm back at JMU and excited to support students in their career and professional development journey!

Some fun facts about me:
- I'm a huge reader. Lately I have been slacking on my reading goal because I have picked up new hobbies, but I used to read 100+ books a year.
- I have a cat named Taquito. She's a very cute, chunky tuxedo cat. :)
- I am constantly rewatching Grey's Anatomy. It's my comfort show when I don't know what to watch (which is very often).
