SADAH facilities

Discover SADAH.

The best way to learn about SADAH's facilities and student life is to experience it yourself. Your 1.5 hour tour will take you to three buildings and end with an informational session with a faculty member.

The Memorial Hall Arts Center houses the photography program, complete with traditional darkroom, digital and alternative process labs, and a light and sound studio.

The Studio Design Center, renovated in 2015, boasts new bookmaking and letterpress equipment, concrete lab, woodshop and casting space, laser cutters and 3D printers, and many designers have their own dedicated workstations.

Duke Hall, renovated in 2014, features open spaces flooded with light and a modern aesthetic.

Your tour will also take you to the Duke Hall Gallery of Fine Art, ArtWorks Gallery and New Image Gallery.

A JMU Academic Open House is a little like a “choose your own adventure” day, where students can explore different colleges at the university. Information sessions for SADAH begin at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., with tours of the facilities at 11:15 and 12:15, and finally a tour of Wayland Hall.  Staff will be available in Duke Hall Court 9 a.m. - noon to answer program-specific questions.  Register and see a tentative schedule for upcoming Academic Open House days.

Explore JMU Arts is a half-day program on Columbus Day.  The day begins with a joint CVPA/Undergraduate Admissions information session about the audition/portfolio review process, followed by a tour of the SADAH facilities.  Then, students can attend an information session/Q&A/student panel about SADAH and observe some art classes in progress.
