Academic Online Programs are programs that can be completed either partially (hybrid) or fully online.

First Generation

A first generation student is one whose parent(s) or guardian(s), with whom they primarily reside, never completed a bachelor's degree.

Positive Career Outcome

A positive career outcome is defined as having part- or full-time employment, engagement in an internship or volunteer experience, enlistment in the military, or enrollment in graduate school. Alumni who have identified they are not actively seeking employment are not included.

Student enrollments are defined as the number of unique students enrolled in online programs.

Retention

The total number and percentage of students who are registered by the university census date after one year from the first time enrolled at the university.

Faculty

Individuals whose primary responsibility is teaching/research/service at least 50% or more of their job responsibility and who spend a portion (less than 50%) of their time providing academic advising services to students.

Primary

Individuals whose primary role at the institution is the direct delivery of advising services to students as at least 50% or more of their job responsibilities.

Program type

Academic program the student has declared their major and/or minor: 

  1. Major: A Major (undergraduate) or Program (graduate) is a coherent set of required and elective courses approved by the Board of Visitors and SCHEV and meeting state criteria that when completed by a student, signifies a degree of preparation in a field or fields of study. 

  2. Minor: A Minor(undergraduate) is a cohesive set of required and elective courses that, when completed by a student, connotes knowledge and skills in a discipline, region or topic area, but not at the depth of a major.

Academic college the student has declared their major.

Optimize
Colleges and departments have unique needs, so advising personnel varies. “Optimizing” accounts for the variability of needed resources, rather than an across-the-board goal to “increase” or “decrease.”

Fully Online Schedule
Any student taking a fully online (for-credit) schedule of one or more credits, for one or more semesters in an AY. No face-to-face or hybrid classes are taken by the student during the AY.
