We’ve simplified the process of selecting the right computer for your major. Working with JMU Information Technology and the JMU Academic Departments, we put together the following list of computer systems for each major. Division of Communication, Information, and Media: School of Media Arts and Design*, School of Communication Studies,
School of Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication
Division of International and Public Affairs: Political Science, International Affairs, Public Policy and Administration, Justice Studies
Division of Liberal Arts: English, Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, History, Philosophy and Religion, Sociology and Anthropology
*Macs are preferred for School of Media Arts and Design

*College of Business majors may use a Mac however some classes use software that only runs on Windows. Such software is available in JMU computing labs or you can run Windows on your Mac. **SHSRM recommends the above Dells and all of the Mac systems.
