James Madison University will join in local observances honoring America's military veterans over the weekend preceding Veterans Day. JMU's participation in the Veterans Day observances continues a Madison tradition of excellence in citizenship, service and honor. The university's ROTC program has consistently been ranked in the top five percent of more than 270 universities nationwide, and JMU alumni have a long history of military service. The Sunday dedication of a new memorial to honor the area's fallen veterans will culminate events. Learn more.

Awards to students at risk of dropping out due to financial hardship have been granted thanks to Madison for Keeps donations. Purple yard signs in the shape of graduates symbolizing the students helped by the emergency student aid initiative have been installed on campus. Clearing landmines and helping landmine victims recover is a long, hard process. Representatives from James Madison University are meeting with Jordanian Prince Raad Ben Zaid, his son, Prince Mired R. Z. Al-Hussein, and leaders of organizations from countries where landmine recovery services are needed to increase awareness and aid.
