MISSION: To empower JMU students through evidence-based education and meaningful interactions that promote health, well-being, and informed decision making.
Each student employee of the Well Dukes Peer Educator team completes training to become a Certified Peer Educator through NASPA to foster personal and professional growth as a leader and advocate for their peers.
Wellness Programs
Test your knowledge as it applies to alcohol and other drugs through an interactive game of Jeopardy. Registration required through BeInvolved.
Learn about healthy and unhealthy dating behaviors and how to talk to someone that may be in an unhealthy relationship. Participants will learn to recognize possible warning signs of different forms of abuse and reflect on personal values they desire in their own relationships in this interactive program. If you have an interest in empowering students with the knowledge, resources, and skills they need to navigate, protect, and advocate for their well-being, we recruit every Spring! If you would like to be notified when the application is open, complete this Interest Form!
- Availability on at least two evenings Sunday-Thursday (5:00-9:00pm) every week
- Availability to attend a staff meeting every other week
- Mandatory Staff August Training: a multi-day training where you will:
- Learn about the role and your responsibilities through the Peer Educator Manual
- Complete NASPA CPE (Certified Peer Educator) Training
- Learn about programs and how to facilitate
- Team Bonding
- Mandatory Spring Retreat: a 1-day training where you will:
- Further grow your professional development
- Team Bonding
- Facilitating programs and outreach
- Taking inventory and restocking campus Safer Sex Stations
- Weekly Office Hours (1+ hour(s) per week)
- Attending bi-weekly staff meetings
- Supporting the Well Dukes department with special projects
