Description
Duties:
We are two teachers who work in a neighboring school district, looking for a dependable babysitter to care for our two fun, sweet children when their school is closed and ours isn't. They are 6-year-old boy/girl twins on the autism spectrum. Flexibility is a plus since care is needed both on scheduled teacher workdays, occasional short notice (weather closings), and monthly date nights.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise/play with 6-year-old boy/girl twins.
- Prepare simple snacks/meals.
- Assist with routines; diapering for one child.
- Care needed on teacher workdays and some school closings.
- Communicate with parents as needed.
Requirements:
- Dependable and responsible
- Experience with kids (autism experience a plus), with 1-2 references.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Patient, kind, and willing to learn.
- Comfortable with 2 dogs + 1 cat.
- Reliable transportation to our home in Augusta County, about 12 miles away from JMU.
A brief interview will be required before hiring, which can be held in a public setting like a nearby coffee shop.
How to apply:
Salary
$18–$25/hr depending on experience, special needs skills, and flexibility
Hours per week
0–8 hours (varies with school schedule/closings) + 1 evening/month for date night
Specific hours
Typically, school-day hours on teacher workdays (approx. 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) -Occasional short-notice hours during school closings due to weather or emergencies -Evening hours once a month for date night (time arranged in advance).
Duration of position
Ongoing/recurring position throughout the school year; potential to continue in future school years if a good fit.
