Description
Duties:
Caretaker/Companion needed for my teen son who has Down syndrome and Autism. My son is a sweet and fun guy. He's a people-person and enjoys meeting new friends. He also has a funny sense of humor. He loves music, dancing, watching the cars go by while on walks, taking car rides, watching movies, going to the park, the pool and the mall, etc. He communicates primarily with simple signing and sometimes a speech device.
Duties would include taking him on outings; going for walks to the park or around the neighborhood; playing with him or doing activities; assisting him with meals and self help skills, personal hygiene, etc. Plus the potential for taking him to his Speech/OT therapy sessions (which can provide you shadowing hours if needed for school).
We can be flexible depending on your schedule and how it fits with our needs.
Requirements:
- Must be reliable and responsible and have a love of helping others meet their own potential.
- An intuitive sense of people’s needs and good problem solving skills is a plus!
- A background check is required.
- CPR training is helpful.
- Must have own transportation.
- Experience with special needs and Autism is a bonus but not required as long as you're compassionate and willing to learn!
