Description
Duties:
Caretaker/Companion needed for my teen son who has Down syndrome and Autism. My son is a sweet and fun guy. He's a people-person and enjoys meeting new friends. He also has a funny sense of humor. He loves music, dancing, watching the cars go by while on walks, taking car rides, watching movies, going to the park, the pool and the mall, etc. He communicates primarily with simple signing and gestures. Duties would include taking him on outings; going for walks to the park or around the neighborhood; playing with him or doing activities; assisting him with meals and self help skills, personal hygiene, etc. Plus the potential for taking him to his Speech/OT therapy sessions (which can provide you shadowing hours if needed for school). Openings begin in May through the summer, with the opportunity to extend into next semester and beyond. We can be flexible depending on your schedule.
Requirements:
- Must be reliable and responsible and have a love of helping others meet their own potential.
- An intuitive sense of people’s needs and good problem solving skills is a plus!
- A background check is required.
- CPR training is helpful.
- Must have own transportation.
- Experience with special needs and Autism is a bonus but not required as long as you're compassionate and willing to learn!

Salary
$13.88 (plus time and a half for overtime)
Hours per week
Flexible!! 2-40+ hours currently available
Specific hours
Shifts are generally between 7am-7pm. You can sign up for as many shifts as fits your schedule and ours.
Duration of position
May through the summer (with the possibility of extending into the Fall and onward)
