Safe Zone is a voluntary network of faculty, staff and students who believe that every member of the university community should have an equal opportunity to grow and learn in a safe and open environment.

What Can Safe Zone Do for YOU?
  • Grant you a safe place where you can feel comfortable coming and being out, or sharing what's on your mind!
  • Help you educate yourself on LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus) issues
  • Provide you the tools to become an ally and advocate
  • Include you in our Safe Zone Family
  • Refer you to existing LGBT Resources in the area
  • Update you on related news and discussions.

Safe Zone educates JMU faculty, staff, and students about issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and questioning individuals (LGBTQIQ+) and their loved ones.
