Metaphysics/Epistemology requirement: One of the following courses will satisfy this requirement:
- PHIL/REL 218 Philosophy of Religion
- PHIL 300 Knowledge and Belief
- PHIL 311 Metaphysics
- PHIL 392 Philosophy of Mind
- PHIL 394 Self and Identity
- PHIL 395 Philosophy and Scientific Inquiry
- PHIL 396 Philosophy of Physics
- PHIL 397 Philosophy of Space and Time
- PHIL 398 Philosophy of Quantum Theory
- PHIL 420 Philosophy of Language
- NOTE! Depending on how they are taught, the following classes may be counted towards the history requirement if they are approved by petition to the Academic Unit Head: PHIL 390, PHIL 391, and PHIL 475.
Philosophy electives (4 courses, 3 of which must be 300 level or above)
- NOTE! If the student takes GPHIL 101 as part of Cluster 2 in the GenEd program, it can double count as one course of this elective section. However, neither GPHIL 120 nor GPHIL 150 can be used as an elective.
Cognate Courses (3 courses from one or more disciplinary areas outside of philosophy)

Part 2 of 2: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
To be considered for graduation, undergraduates must:
- earn at least 120 semester hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better
· earn at least 50% of the required total semester hours from a four-year institution
· earn at least 25% of the required total semester hours at JMU
- satisfy course requirements for the major program with a GPA of 2.0 or better
- satisfy all General Education requirements
· basic overview: General Education Program
- satisfy the foreign language requirement for the Bachelor of Arts degree
