This year's Madison Trust event will be FRIDAY, March 11, 2022.

Those who are selected to present reap the triple benefit of

  1. the chance to fund their work through Madison Trust,
  2. the guidance to position their innovation so they can seek other gifts or grants if needed, and
  3. introductions to colleagues at JMU who can help them find and pursue still more funding opportunities.

Project ideas are welcome and encouraged from any area/discpline on campus; projects budgets should be between $2,500 and $25,000.

  • Proposals should focus on innovation and creativity, and on providing a new opportunity to fund pioneering ideas.
  • Know who needs to approve your project idea (usually a Dean/AVP and Provost/Vice President).
  • Submit your proposal by November 19, 2021.
  • Selected finalists will be notified in late December 2021.

Completed submissions will be sent for final approval to your Dean/Assistant Vice President as listed in your proposal. If approved, your proposal will automatically move on to be reviewed by investor-judges and JMU Senior Leadership. Ten (10) finalists will be selected to present at the Madison Trust event on Friday, March 11, 2022. Funding awarded from Madison Trust is one-time funding; it is not meant to be budget relieving, and it is separate from the annual budget initiative process. Finalists will have the opportunity to create a short video that will be used for post-event messaging and crowfunding opportunities.
