Launch and Successfully Complete JMU's Next Comprehensive Campaign

JMU is launching the third comprehensive campaign in its history, mobilizing philanthropy to help realize the ambitions of the Madison Promise. The campaign will strengthen the university's philanthropic capacity and deepen partnerships with deans and academic leaders to expand and accelerate giving.

Pillars 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5: Enhance the Purpose, Value, and Impact of a JMU Education; Invest in Our People; Chart a New Path as a National Research University; Become the Preferred Partner to Meet the Needs of the Commonwealth, and Beyond; Create an Innovative Campus Community

Key Performance Indicators

  • Launch a six-year campaign to secure $400 million in commitments by 2032, as the first phase of a larger goal to inspire $1 billion in philanthropic investment by 2040.
  • Grow average annual giving from about $30 million toward $50 million.
  • Implement the new Philanthropy and Engagement division structure and activate stronger partnerships with academic leaders.

FY27 Action Items

  • Build the team to carry out the campaign under the new Philanthropy and Engagement division structure.
  • Deepen dean and president's cabinet partnership and participation in fundraising.
  • Fully leverage the new CRM's philanthropic data, reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Successfully secure lead gifts in the Advance Gift Leadership phase of the comprehensive campaign to position JMU for the public launch.
  • Develop compelling cases for support.
