Develop a Comprehensive Strategic Enrollment Management Plan

JMU is developing a comprehensive Strategic Enrollment Management plan to guide future enrollment in step with The Madison Promise. Completed and endorsed by the end of FY27, the plan will set enrollment, retention, and yield targets and guide implementation and evaluation through 2032.

This Priority Initiative Supports:
Pillars 1, 3, and 4: Enhance the Purpose, Value, and Impact of a JMU Education; Chart a New Path as a National Research University; Become the Preferred Partner to Meet the Needs of the Commonwealth, and Beyond

Key Performance Indicators

  • A completed Strategic Enrollment Management plan in use as the university's enrollment roadmap by June 2027.
  • 1% to 2% annual growth in overall enrollment beginning fall 2027, with retention and yield targets met or exceeded by 2032.

FY27 Action Items

  • Establish the Strategic Enrollment Management steering committee and leadership structure.
  • Gather data and set an enrollment baseline.
  • Develop vision teams to gather additional information and identify resource planning needs.
  • Build enrollment dashboards and develop strategies for each target population.
  • Develop enrollment projections and set measurable goals by population through FY32, aligned with strategic plan's 1-2% overall growth target.
  • Draft, vet, and finalize the plan, and secure endorsement from the President's Cabinet.
  • Develop communication and implementation rollout plan with University Marketing & Communications for upcoming recruitment cycle.
  • Align Strategic Enrollment Management plan with scholarship investment needs and comprehensive campaign priorities.
