Marketing & Engagement Assistant

Hi! My name is Jamie Clingenpeel and I am a Senior with a School of Media Arts and Design (Creative Advertising concentration) major. This fellowship fosters creativity, innovation, and cross-collaborative teamwork. JMU X-Labs aspires to provoke meaningful change on campus, and that inspires me as a designer. This fellowship lays a strong foundation for my career, a career in which I hope to make positive change in the world around me.

I am most curious to explore how JMU students will grow in this space, what ideas they will come up with, and what difference they will make. I'm excited to gain more experience in social media campaigning, videography, editing, and maybe even learn how to use the 3D printer!

Academically, I am passionate about graphic design, photography, videography, and all things advertising. Personally, I am most passionate about 2 main things: films and the climate crisis. I know, crazy combo. I created a social media PSA campaign about the effects of the meat industry on the environment, and it won the 2025 BEA award of excellence in the Interactive Media & Emerging Technologies’ social media category. My hobbies include reading, yoga, art, and cooking!

This past summer, I spent a month in Vietnam at Hue University. While there, I practiced my photography skills, developed a podcast with other students, and shot and edited a promotional video for the city I resided in. P.S. Vietnam has the best coffee I've ever had in my life.
