University Goals

Goal 6A: The university will support and seek to identify tools and resources to assist our employees in achieving a reasonable and satisfactory work-life balance.

Goal 6B: The university will continue its commitment to the investment of resources to support a wide array of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.

Goal 6C: The university will increase resources to support mentorship, coaching and professional development for faculty and staff.

Goal 6D: The university will provide employees with resources, opportunities and co-worker interactions necessary for meaningful workplace involvement.

Thoughts about this Core Quality

All agree that faculty and staff success have been the hallmarks of JMU’s success in the past and will be into the future. That’s one reason that one committee of the Madison Future Commission was devoted entirely to the topic. That committee suggested: “JMU makes available to all faculty and staff direct and indirect benefits that exemplify best practices in higher education to support healthy work/life balance.” The committee also stated: “Faculty and staff are supported in their personal and professional growth.” This core quality simply reflects a inherent trait of JMU.
