The new program will take effect in Fall 2028. It was developed by the Ad Hoc Core Curriculum Committee, endorsed by the faculty, and approved by the provost and president in Spring 2026.

2026–2027 Next Steps: Gen Ed Curriculum Development

Sept. 7 - Oct 16, 2026: Faculty Teams refine draft outcomes
14 teams of 100+ faculty members refine learning outcomes first drafted by the CCC in Spring 2026.

Oct. 20 - Dec. 1, 2026: Survey gathers faculty feedback
All instructional faculty invited to provide campus-wide feedback through online survey.

Dec. 1 - Jan. 31, 2027: New C&I Body, the GEOC, approves final outcomes
The program’s new C&I body—the GEOC, General Education Oversight Committee—incorporates feedback and approves final outcomes.

Feb. 1 - Nov. 2027: Units revise and develop courses
Mapping to the approved Learning Outcomes, units revise current courses and develop new courses, to ensure a complete program launched in Fall 2028.
