Founded in 2018, Tri-Alpha recognizes the academic achievements of students who are the first in their families to attend college, while fostering leadership, community, and support for first-gen success.

Eligibility
Undergraduate Students
  • First-generation college student 
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at JMU
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Graduate Students
  • First-generation status
  • Completed at least one term of study
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA

 

Faculty, Staff, and Alumni
  • First-generation status
  • Support the mission of Tri-Alpha and first-gen students
