Digital humanities and digital libraries; Post-custodial, decolonizing, and community archives; Public and environmental humanities; Indigenous languages and ways of knowing; Nineteenth-century literature and material culture; Textual criticism and the history of the book.
Bio and Curriculum Vitae:
Dr. Nowviskie is Dean of Libraries and Professor of English at JMU. She was previously the Executive Director of the Digital Library Federation, a CLIR Distinguished Presidential Fellow, president of the Association for Computers and the Humanities, chair of the MLA’s Committee on Information Technology, and both a research faculty member in the Department of English at the University of Virginia and the founding director of the Scholars’ Lab at UVa.
