Secondary Education - English Teaching Licensure
If your dream is to teach English in grades 6-12, you should consider majoring in English and choosing to major or minor in Secondary Education (SEED). Many of the courses you will take for your English degree will count towards the requirements in Secondary Education.
To earn Teaching Licensure in English, you can choose from two pathways:
- Major in both English and Secondary Education (SEED). You will be admitted to the College of Education in their Teacher Education Program, taking core courses in SEED along with your English major courses.
- Major in English and minor in Secondary Education (SEED) as part of the Dual Degree Initial Teacher Licensure Program. You will be admitted to the College of Education in their Teacher Education Program, taking courses towards completion of both the B.A. and graduate level Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree.
The undergraduate catalog contains a complete description of university degree requirements and specific requirements for the English Teaching Licensure.
