Are you really enjoying the Golden Age of Wine?  ..... Never has there been such a diversity of excellent, affordable wines than today. If you are not giving different wines a try, you're missing out.  But, here's your chance to catch up. We're having a tasting of delectable, diverse wines from around the world. You will taste whites and reds running the gamut from smooth & subtle to bold & powerful. Brad Roof, JMU emeritus wine studies professor in Hart School will assist you on this discovery of astonishing wines, perhaps unknown to you. Bring your own wine glass.

Trip to the Kennedy Center

December 18th 

Brighten your holiday season with the award-winning musical Come from Away at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, December 18th.  This feel-good musical, written by Canadians, tells for true story of the residents of Gander, Newfoundland, who cared for over 7000 unexpected passengers stranded for several days following 9-11.

The emeriti association has reserved orchestra-level tickets for the evening performance and will, of course, be taking a bus. Look for a flyer mailed mid-October. Tickets are $110 and must be paid for by early November with no refunds after that.


Spring Luncheon

Dr. Katey Castellano, the 2019 Legacy Grant Recipient from the College of Arts and Letters, will share her work that is supported by FEA.  In addition, the Academic Deans and Provost have been invited so that we can meet some of the newer members of the JMU administration and hear about recent academic initiatives. 


Emeriti Lecture “The JMU Mineral Museum:  Past, Present and Future”, Reception and Tour of New Mineral Museum

Dr. Lance Kearns, Professor Emeritus and Curator of the Mineral Museum, will provide an overview of the development of the Mineral Museum, the exciting additions that have expanded the collection and museum.
