Memorial Hall

I am an historian and experienced professor with a strong background in teaching, research, and mentoring students in the study of United States history. My academic career has focused on helping students understand the complexities of the past while developing their skills in critical thinking, historical analysis, and scholarly research.  I have been teaching at JMU for 20+ years and love bringing the past to life for my students.  History is not a collection of dates and facts, but a story of people, choices, struggles, and ideas that continue to shape our world.  My goal is to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful conversations that help students become more informed and engaged citizens.
