Why did you become an ambassador? I want to help promote to IT students, prospective and current, everything our major has to offer. I also love talking to people and answering their questions, so this job was a perfect fit for me!

Why did you choose IT? I’ve been obsessed with computers since middle school, where I took my first coding class that opened my eyes to the complicated and fascinating processes that drive how everyday technology functions. Since then, everything I’ve learned and everyone I’ve met have proven I made the right choice!

What do you enjoy most about IT? I enjoy the broad range of topics covered across and within each course. Not only do you gain valuable experience manipulating industry software and hardware through the program, but you learn and apply the foundational ideas behind each subject that develop your capacity to solve IT problems ethically and effectively.

What advice would you give to a prospective student? Take your academics seriously; apply the mindset that each assignment you complete is another tool in your belt, giving you the skills you need to succeed throughout and beyond your time at JMU. By the same token, understand the value of taking a break when you need it; I recommend spending a windy afternoon on Festival Lawn or going for a walk in the Arboretum if you ever need to clear your head!
