Why did you become an ambassador? I wanted the opportunity to represent a department that aligns closely with my interests while also helping other students. I remember how helpful it was to hear directly from IT ambassadors when I was considering JMU, and I wanted to provide that same perspective to prospective and current students. I value being able to share my experience and help others feel more comfortable and confident about pursuing IT at JMU.

Why did you choose IT? I chose Information Technology because I have always enjoyed understanding how technology works and building things myself. Outside of class, I have built computers, FPV drones, and sim racing rigs, and I especially enjoy the research and problem-solving that goes into those projects. IT felt like a natural fit because it develops many of those same skills while preparing me for a career in technology.

Describe your JMU experience in three words: Social, Rewarding, Supportive

What advice would you give to a prospective student? Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Talking to professors, current students, and people who have already been through it before can make a new environment feel much less overwhelming. You do not need to have everything figured out from the start.
