Why did you become an ambassador? I wanted to help students feel more comfortable navigating college and getting involved at JMU. I’ve learned a lot from balancing academics, work, extracurriculars, and my social life, and I enjoy sharing those experiences and helping other students find opportunities that fit their interests.

Have you had an internship, study abroad, or research experience? This past summer, I spent nearly three months in Guatemala, where I interned with a local tourism company and helped modernize its internal technology and operations systems. I also took daily Spanish classes, traveled throughout the country, and had the opportunity to take on additional technology work while I was there. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had through JMU.

What is something you love to do outside of class? I love hiking, traveling, and working out. I’m always looking for somewhere new to explore, whether that’s hiking volcanoes in Guatemala or finding new trails around the Shenandoah Valley.

What advice would you give to a prospective student? Take advantage of opportunities even if they aren’t exactly what you originally pictured yourself doing. Some of my best experiences at JMU came from trying something new, meeting people outside my normal circle, and getting involved in opportunities that pushed me outside my comfort zone.
