Minor: Honors

Why did you become an ambassador? To help IT students find their way through classes and their careers, and to help students navigate JMU more easily.

Why did you choose IT? I've been interested in technology ever since I was a child. I refined that interest in my sophomore year of high school and focused it on computer networking, so IT felt like the natural choice.

What do you enjoy most about IT? I enjoy the smaller class sizes and TAs because they allow people to build closer relationships with their peers, professors, and TAs.

What is your favorite class or project? My homelab, where I self-host applications and practice implementing IT infrastructure such as a hypervisor, router, switch, and servers.

Who has been an influential professor, mentor, or advisor? Dr. El-Tawab. His energetic and enthusiastic teaching style had me focused during his lectures; you'll know what I'm talking about if you've taken a class with him.

Have you had an internship, study abroad, or research experience? Last summer I interned at Verizon as a Cybersecurity intern under the digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) team. I shadowed live DFIR investigations and met with teams across network security, cloud security, threat hunting, and malware analysis. I also got the return offer for full-time!

What clubs, student organizations, or activities are you involved in? South Asian Student Association, Madison Tech Society, Outdoor Club

What is something you love to do outside of class? Participating in student orgs, working on my homelab, and listening to vinyl records.

What is your favorite spot on campus? The steps outside of King Hall, great view especially when it's a sunset.

Describe your JMU experience in three words: Social, Growth, Connection

What advice would you give to a prospective student? If you chose JMU, you're already made one right choice. The next I would suggest is to put yourself out there and join clubs and organizations, even if they're outside your comfort zone. You might meet new people and friends you never expected.
