Why did you become an ambassador? I remember the impact the ambassadors had on me when I came to tour JMU. They welcomed me and made me feel like I belonged, and I want to be that person for prospective and current students.

Why did you choose IT? I chose IT because I watched my dad work as a System Administrator and knew that was what I wanted to do in the future. I love working with technology and in high school, any IT class I took was my favorite.

What do you enjoy most IT? My favorite thing about the IT program is the hands-on learning experiences we get in classes. We learn the technical terms and important facts, and we also learn how to use them in the real world through labs.

Who has been an influential professor, mentor, or advisor for you at JMU? Dr. Belsare has been an influential professor and mentor to me at JMU. She always wants you to succeed in her class and does her best to present information in an easy-to-understand way. She worked with me on my research and she was always supportive and willing to help in any way I needed.

Have you had an internship, study abroad, or research experience? I participated in FYRE during my second semester of freshman year. It was an amazing research experience that taught me what research was, the work that goes into it, and what research looks like within IT.

What clubs, student organizations, or activities are you involved in? Line Dancing club, and this year, I am joining the Women in Technology club.

What is something you love to do outside of class? I love playing video games and hanging out with friends.

What is your favorite spot on campus? Out front of King Hall. At sunset, you get an amazing view.

What advice would you give to a prospective student? When you're on campus, make sure it feels like home. If you can visualize yourself here every day and feel like you belong, you are in the right place.
