This endowment is given to support a graduate student in psychology with a special interest in suicide awareness or suicide prevention.
We are proud to introduce the 2024-2025 recipients:
Kylie Hathaway
Counseling & Supervision PhD
I am beyond grateful and honored to be selected as a recipient of the Jonathan D. Davis scholarship. I have spent the last decade working with trauma and PTSD as a crisis counselor. I am not only passionate about helping individuals and families cope with trauma, but am personally motivated, after almost losing a loved one to suicide.
I want to sincerely thank Mr. And Mrs. Davis for their support and help in achieving my goals. This scholarship alleviates the financial burden of continuing my education and enables me to focus more on learning. After graduating from JMU’s PhD program in Counselor Education and Supervision, I hope to honor Jonathan’s legacy by bringing hope and healing to individuals dealing with trauma and suicidal ideation through my work as a counselor. I also hope to honor him by teaching the future generation of counselors to be trauma informed and skilled crisis interventionists. I cannot thank you enough for the true impact this scholarship will have on my life and career.
Mallory McIvor
School Psychology, MA/EdS
I am excited and honored to be selected as one of the recipients of the Jonathan D. Davis scholarship. This scholarship is not only advancing my academic pursuits but is also empowering me to contribute meaningfully to suicide prevention and awareness efforts, a cause I remain deeply passionate about. Balancing the demands of graduate education with financial responsibilities can be challenging, and this scholarship provides meaningful support that allows me to focus more fully on my training as a future school psychologist. I look forward to continuing this important work during my internship and beyond, and I’m deeply grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Davis for supporting my journey.
