Event Schedule:

  • 8:30-10am: Check-in at the Festival Ballroom
    • First, unload materials on the sidewalk in the cul-de-sac in front of Festival Conference Center. Staff members will ask you which organization you represent and bring your materials inside to the assigned table. Go and park at the East Campus Parking Deck nearby and walk back over to Festival.
    • Arrive back at Festival, check in, and set up your table in the Festival Ballroom.
  • 10am-12pm: Career Fair in Festival Ballroom
    • Students will be using this time to network and, if applicable, schedule afternoon interviews with you.
  • 12-4pm: Interviews
    • All interviews will be conducted in 20-minute increments at your table in the Festival Ballroom and/or a Conference Room. If you signed up for a conference room your interviews will be held in the room you reserved. Please note: Recruiters are responsible for scheduling all morning, afternoon, and lunch breaks. Please build this into your schedule when setting up interviews.



  • Registration Opens: November 1, 2019
  • Registration Closes: Friday, March 13, 2020 or when all spaces have been reserved
  • Cancellation Deadline for 100% refund: January 31, 2020
  • Cancellation Deadline for 50% refund: February 28, 2020
  • No refund will be issued for cancellations received after February 28, 2020
  • If the event is canceled by James Madison University due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued.
  • Please submit payment within 30 days of completing the registration process, or upon registering if registering after February 28, 2020.
  • If payment is not received within 30 days of registration, your registration may be cancelled.


  • Please note that we are only able to accept credit card as method of payment. Any payments sent via check will unfortunately be returned.
  • All registration fees include table (8 foot by 2 foot), event publicity, and 2 representatives. Each organization is limited to 1 table only. Afternoon interviews will be conducted at the same table used for the career fair portion of the event.
  • $100: Basic Registration
  • $150: Basic Registration + Extra Interview Room (We have 10 extra interview rooms, reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sold out as of November 5, 2019.)
  • $10: Additional Attendees, 5 additional attendees max for a total of 7 representatives
  • $15: Electricity at the table


  • Log in to our online recruiting platform, Handshake.
  • Navigate to the ‘Fairs’ tab on the left and search ‘Teacher Recruitment Day 2019.’
  • Consult the Handshake Help Center’s How to Register for a Career Fair instructions for further information.
  • Our office will review your registration request within 3 business days.

Travel & Parking

The event will be held in the Festival Conference & Student Center at 1301 Carrier Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Unloading and parking:

  • Pull into the Festival cul-de-sac and unload all materials for the Fair onto the sidewalk. Staff will ask you which organization you represent and bring your materials inside to your assigned table.
  • Exit the cul-de-sac as soon as possible out of consideration for other recruiters. You can check in when you return from parking your car.
  • Drive around the cul-de-sac and turn right onto Carrier Drive.
  • When Carrier Drive ends at the JMU sign, turn left onto University Boulevard.
  • Proceed on University Boulevard a short distance to the East Campus Parking Deck on your left.
  • Enter the deck and park on levels 2-4. Parking anywhere else will result in a ticket.
  • No tag is required to park in the deck on levels 2-4.
  • Travel the short distance by sidewalk back to the Festival Conference Center.
  • When you arrive at the Festival proceed to the registration table (straight ahead through the entrance) to check in.

Hotels & Lodging

  • If a hotel stay will be part of your visit, view our list of local accommodations.
  • You can stay at Hotel Madison with a 15% off discounted rate.
    • Click “Reserve Now,” select your dates of stay, then click “Reserve Now” again.
    • Click the “Have a Promo or Corp Code” box, and add the discount code “JMU.”
    • Select your room type and enter your payment details.

Inclement Weather

Inclement Weather Date: Thursday, March 26, 2020

  • If the university opens by 10am, the Fair will run as scheduled that day.
  • In the event that the university closes when the Fair has already begun but is less than 2 hours into the event, the rest of the event on that day will be cancelled and all employer fees for that day will be refunded.
  • If the university closes when the Fair has already occurred for 2 hours, the rest of the event on that day will be cancelled and there will be a 50% refund offered for that day.
  • If JMU cancels schools on the day of the event, Teacher Recruitment Day will be held on the inclement weather date.
