The Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Regulations (34 CFR Part 86) of the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) require an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) to certify that it has implemented programs to prevent the unlawful use and abuse of alcohol, and/or distribution of illicit drugs both by students and employees either on its premises and as a part of any of its activities. As part of JMU's compliance with the DFSCA, we publish a Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program (DAAPP), conduct a biennial review of the program, and send an annual notification regarding the program to our students and employees. JMU's current DAAPP, most recent biennial review, and most recent annual notification are all published on this page.

Pursuant to Policy 1110, the Well Dukes office is responsible for coordinating the university's DAAPP, including annual notifications and the biennial review. Please contact them with any questions about the university's drug and alcohol abuse prevention program or the information published on this page.
