Charge:  The work of the Task Force on Early Childhood Education Initiatives includes:

  • Reviewing the current state of JMU/CoE’s academic, research and community engagement initiatives related to early childhood education
  • Reviewing the Compensation Advisory Council (CAC) report and recommendations from May 2021
  • Examining and assessing three options:
    • An E3 partnership with Sentara serving community members and JMU employees
    • A partnership with Sentara to build a stand-alone facility adjacent to the hospital, serving JMU and Sentara employees
    • A stand-alone facility on JMU campus serving JMU employees/community members (expansion of existing program)
  • Examining and assessing opportunities to partner with existing childcare providers in Harrisonburg
  • Exploring funding opportunities (federal, state, foundations, etc.)
  • Exploring options for interim support through an expansion of the Young Children’s Program
