This is an online posting board site that offers students the ability to post a need for a ride to a desired location or the ability to provide transportation to others. This is also a great way to meet other JMU students!
Provides service to JMU students through the station located in Staunton, Virginia, a 20 minute ride south on I-81. Routes serving this location are the Cardinal / Hoosier State, which run from/to New York - Penn Station to Chicago - Union Station. Please contact one of the cabs listed above for transportation service to and from the Staunton Amtrak station.

College Transit is a bus service designed for JMU students. They provide transportation for Thanksgiving and Winter Break. In addition, they provide service during Homecoming, Spring Break, and other chartered events. Destinations include Maryland, BWI, Huntington, NY; Ridgefield, NJ; Allentown, PA; Elkridge, MD and others as listed on the College Transit Web site. They service destinations throughout Virginia and as far north as Massachusetts and Connecticut. All trips start from and return to Godwin Hall at JMU.
Offers services from Harrisonburg to New York, NY for $50 per person. Bus departs from Shell Gas Station located at 1617 East Market Street, Harrisonburg.
Harrisonburg Transit's routes are intended to serve both the citizens of Harrisonburg and JMU. Public Transit saves fuel, reduces road traffic and decreases demand for public parking. General hours of service are Monday - Thursday 7AM - 12:00AM, Fridays 7AM - 3:00AM, Saturdays 9AM - 3:00AM, Sundays 11AM - 12:00AM. Campus Routes operate ONLY during JMU's fall and spring sessions. Please view the Web site for a full listing of available routes.
Home ride is a bus service designed for JMU students. Generally, they leave JMU on Friday afternoons and return on Sunday nights. They also make special runs for fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break, according to the University calendar. All trips start from and return from Godwin Hall at JMU. Their stop in Northern Virginia is in the south parking lot of the Vienna Metro Station. In Charlottesville, they stop at the Student Activities Building at UVA; In Richmond, at the James Cabell Library at VCU; in Hampton, near the Montgomery Ward's at the Coliseum Mall. 2009-10 Fares are just $63 round-trip or $38 one-way to Northern Virginia, $44/$27 to Charlottesville, $66/$39 to Richmond, or $84/$50 to Hampton. Tickets are on sale at the JMU Bookstore, or may be purchased over the phone by calling the Home Ride office at the number listed above. Remember, tickets can be bought in advance and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Washington Flyer service is a wonderful compliment to Home Ride. By combining these two services, a student can get to Dulles Airport; they simply take the Metro from the Home Ride Northern Virginia drop-off to the West Falls Church Metro stop, where they can catch the Washington Flyer shuttle to Dulles for $8.

The Charlottesville-Albermarle Airport (CHO) is a non-hub, commercial service airport offering 50 daily non-stop flights to and from Charlotte, Philadelphia, New York/LaGuardia, Washington/Dulles, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Atlanta. CHO is served by Delta Connection, United Express (Atlantic Coast Airlines), Northwest Airlines, and US Airways Express (Piedmont Airlines).
CHO is located 8 miles north of the City of Charlottesville, 1 mile west of Route 29 on Airport Road Daily and hourly parking lots are conveniently located to make ease of use a given at the Airport.
The Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport provides the quickest, most convenient access to and from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Flights to and from the Washington-Dulles International Airport through United, link the traveling public with major airline service. Convenient to Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, and Staunton, as well as Augusta and Rockingham counties in Virginia, and Interstates 81 and 64, the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport meets the travel needs of thousands of passengers each year for both business and pleasure. SHD's Airport Shuttle service carries passengers to the airport from many area locations; however, a 24 hour advance reservation is requested for this service.
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is located in Chantilly, VA on 12,000 acres of land 26 miles from downtown Washington, D.C. The airport is connected to the region's highway system via an Authority-operated, 16-mile Airport Access Highway dedicated to airport users.
