The office is located in the Student Success Center (SSC), at 738 South Mason Street, Suite 2300, MSC 3500, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22807. We are in what was once Rockingham Memorial Hospital. You will want to park in the Mason Street parking deck located at 715 S. Mason Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22807. There are designated handicapped and reserved parking spots on the 3rd level. Look for purple signs that say JMU VALOR Center and VDVS parking. These spots are reserved for your appointments.  

Once you are parked, proceed to the stair/elevator area. Look for signs to take you to the Skybridge in the Student Success Center (SSC). You will enter and proceed through a set of glass doors and then turn left to cross the Skybridge. Pass through the next set of doors to the Student Success Center. Walk straight down the hall, passing the restrooms and seating areas. JMU VALOR and Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) will be on the left in Suite 2300 next to the Dunkin’ Donuts.

JMU VALOR (VALOR) is our version of a USO — a welcoming space where military-connected students find community and belonging. It’s more than a space — it’s a resource hub for veterans, active-duty service members, reservists and dependents of an active-duty person or veteran. VALOR is located in the SSC (Student Success Center) on the 2nd floor near Dunkin’ Donuts. You can study, relax and build meaningful relationships while enjoying comfy seating, and even a massage chair.  

We prioritize your success through access to resources, programs and events designed to foster community and promote well-being. VALOR collaborates with the Counseling Center, Career Center and other campus partners to bring you programming and events that support your academic, personal and professional growth. The JMU Valor Resource Center is proud to host the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS). There will be a staffer in the Resource Center Monday to Friday. Appointments can be made through the Staunton VDVS Office by calling and leaving a message for Brian Moyers (540-332-8900).
