Description

Duties:

Work with local high school student to improve understanding of high school AP physics with the purposeful intent of helping to raise the student's knowledge of physics-based concepts, beyond memorization.

Requirements:

• Tutor must have a demonstrated and documented comprehensive understanding of physics. Preferably with the current area of collegiate study focusing on physics.
• Possess the demonstratable ability to provide clear, concise and progressive instruction and explanations.
• Instruction materials originate from the AP high school curriculum. Supplemental curriculum materials and resources may be needed for additional instruction support.
• Instruction style should be encouraging and patient.

Initially, the tutor and student will meet twice a week, at a neutral location near (or possibly on) campus, for 1 - 1.5 hours to evaluate the student's comprehension level and establish an instruction model and schedule. As the student's comprehension improves and confidence is gained, there may be a possibility that the frequency of sessions maybe reduced to once a week.

The student is very motivated to understand the material but has reached a frustration level that is impeding the ability to grasp the information.

$20 per hour

Specific hours
Monday - Friday tutoring sessions will need to occur after 4:00pm. If tutoring sessions occur on Saturday or Sunday, the time frame(s) can be flexible.
