Welcome to James Madison University’s website for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

This site serves our faculty, staff and students in fostering an understanding of JMU’s accreditation. We were first awarded this institutional report card in 1927 by SACSCOC. Every ten years our university’s accreditation must be reaffirmed, with the most recent being in December 2013. Between each reaffirmation cycle institutions submit a Fifth Year Interim Report. JMU’s next report will be submitted in Spring 2019.

Fifth-Year Interim Report

The Fifth-Year Interim Report is submitted five years prior to an institution’s reaffirmation review. After JMU’s recent successful on-site visit, reaffirmation and implementation of our Quality Enhancement Plan (Ethical Reasoning in Action), JMU’s Fifth-Year Interim Report will be submitted in Spring 2019. The Fifth-Year Interim Report is intended to provide documentation of compliance with select standards of the Principles of Accreditation with a focus on student achievement. The report will also include an impact report on the implementation of Ethical Reasoning in Action.
