2021 Medical and Dental Application Cycle Tmeline

Fall semester 2019

  • Attend Pre-Application Cylce Seminar.
  • Register for January – June MCAT dates (October); apply for Fee Assistance Program (if applicable).
  • Register for a DENTPIN before you apply to take the DAT.
  • Begin research for school selection (MSAR, Choose DO Explorer, and ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools)
  • Participate in college open houses and webinars.
  • Reflect on competencies and candidacy timing – is this the year you should apply? Meet with a PPH advisor to discuss candidacy. 
  • Submit Intent to Apply Form.
  • Begin drafting your Pre-Application Interview (PAI) materials.

January 2020

  • Request a copy of your official college transcripts for personal review – check for errors.
  • Attend profession specific seminar: Self-Assessment and Personal Statements.
  • Attend profession specific seminar: Letter Selection Strategy
  • Continue drafting your PAI materials.

February 2020 (through sping) 

  • February 1, 2020: Deadline to submit Intent to Apply Form for timely Pre-Application preparation.
  • Schedule Pre-Application Interview (PAI) (90 min) with your PPH Advisor.
  • Continue to prepare your PAI Materials. Seven (7) days before your Scheduled PAI: submit PAI Materials:
    • Autobiography
    • Short essay answers
    • Activities list/Meaningful Experiences
    • Personal Statement Draft
    • Preliminary School List
  • Request VeCollect account
  • Meet with potential letter writers and begin to request letters using VeCollect. Provide letter writers with Information for Letter Writers document.  
  • Make appointment with writing center to review/revise your personal statement.
  • Take your MCAT. Register for July/August MCAT dates (if necessary).

May 2020

  • Download and utilize 2021 AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS instruction Manual(s)
  • Begin AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS data entry
  • Request a copy of your official transcript from the Registrar’s Office to aid in AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS data entry. Submit transcript forms to Registrars’ Offices and all other US colleges or Universities you attended. If you took spring classes, wait until grades are posted; otherwise do this ASAP.
  • Ensure that letters have been received. Send final reminder to any evaluators who have not yet submitted.

June – July 2020

  • June 15, 2020 – PPH’s absolute deadline to schedule your PAI. I you have not scheduled your PAI, we will not be able to provide Letter Packet services on your behalf.
  • Submit AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS online (within first few weeks of opening)
  • Submit pdf of verified primary application to the PPH office. Priority deadline: June 15, 2020. Letter packets will be prepared and sent based in part on dates of PPH file completion, standardized exam, and AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS processing. AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS will notify you once your letter packet has been submitted to your schools.
  • PPH will upload your letter packet to AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS within 14 days of the dissemination request.

Throughout Summer 2020

  • Complete and send secondary applications back within two weeks of receiving them. 
  • August 15, 2020: PPH’s absolute deadline by which you must submit PDF version of AMCAS/AACOMAS/AADSAS/TMDSAS verified application to receive a letter packet. Priority deadline: June 15, 2020.

Fall 2020 (continuing through acceptances)

  • Schedule mock interviews; official interview invitations begin (and continue through April).
  • Send updates of your activities to schools that accept updates. Updates demonstrate continued engagement and continued interest.
  • October 2020: First acceptances released by some medical/dental schools.

June – September 2021: Matriculate at Medical School or Dental School
