Angela Adami is a Research Fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, where she is part of the COSMOS (Centre on Social Movement Studies) research team. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Sociology from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Florence) and an M.A. in Comparative International Relations from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Her current research explores forms of resistance and protest within total institutions in times of democratic backsliding, with a specific focus on migrants’ detention. She previously worked on the ECS-Euro research project Enacting Citizenship and Solidarity in Europe from Below, investigating grassroots local initiatives around migration, housing, and care work.

Her work has been published in Italian and international journals such as Social Movement Studies, American Behavioral Scientist, and Partecipazione e Conflitto. Her forthcoming book, Migrants’ Collective Action: A Temporal Approach, will be published by Routledge in 2026.
