• Spring 2026 auditions for the JMU Brass Band will take place in person January 20-22, 2026.

• Please pre-register your interest to audition on the band's website at www.jmubrassband.org.
• While not a requirement for the audition, you are strongly encouraged to audition on brass band specific instruments (soprano cornet, cornet, flugelhorn, tenor horn, baritone).
• Each audition will consist of 2 prepared selections: Song of the Night Sky (Bond) and The Lost Circle (van der Roost). You are expected to prepare each excerpt in its entirety.
  • All should prepare Song of the Night Sky.
  • For The Lost Circle, prepare as follows:
    • Soprano Cornet (Soprano Cornet part)
    • Solo/Repiano Cornet (Solo Cornet 1 part)
    • 2nd/3rd Cornet (2nd Cornet part)
    • Flugelhorn (Flugelhorn part)
    • Tenor Horn (Solo Horn part)
    • Baritone (1st Baritone part)
    • Tenor Trombone (1st Trombone part)
    • Bass Trombone (Bass Trombone part)
    • Euphonium (1st Euphonium part)
    • Eb Bass (Eb Bass part)
    • Bb Bass (Bb Bass part)
• Audition selections should be prepared as a close to indicated tempi as possible (where indicated).
• This semester's auditions will be conducted in a series of at least two rounds. Be prepared for call back auditions.
