Professor, Violin

Wanchi's CD of Eugene Ysaye Sonatas and complete Partitas and Sonatas of J.S. Bach for Solo Violin under the Centaur Records label has been excellently reviewed (“her incisive technique and an exceptionally rich and beautiful tone...” by Phil's Classical Reviews, Audio Video Club of Atlanta.)

She is an active performer in chamber music, solo recitals, and as a soloist with orchestras throughout North America and Asia, at venues including Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and numerous music festivals. She joined Curtis on Tour for 2017-18 season. Her fourth CD under the same label which presents music by William Walton and Benjamin Britten in collaboration with pianist Robert Koenig, was released in May, 2019.

She debuted Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as a soloist under Catherine Comet at age 14, earned her Bachelor of Music at The Curtis Institute of Music, Masters at The Juilliard School, and Doctorate of Music at Indiana University (Bloomington). Currently she is Full Professor of Violin at the James Madison University School of Music and is Concertmaster of the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra.
