Kenny Hopkinson taught and coached competitive forensics across Nebraska and Kansas before joining JMU in 2019. First serving as assistant director of individual events and then as a lecturer. Courses taught at JMU include SCOM 123 Fundamental Human Communication: Group Communication and SCOM 344 Oral Interpretation.

Kenny’s academic interests follow the basic course, group collaboration, mediation, first generation students, competitive forensics, and speech presentation. His personal interests include fiber arts, crafting, and d.i.y. furniture.

Kenny holds bachelor’s degrees in organizational communication and Speech Communication (University of Nebraska at Kearney and a master’s degree in Communication and Rhetoric (University of Nebraska at Omaha).
