The President and Faculty of James Madison University invite you to attend the

Class of 2020 Commencement Exercises

Friday, September 3, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.

Atlantic Union Bank Center, Harrisonburg, VA

Those students who met degree requirements in May 2020 or December 2020 are invited to attend the ceremony time of their choice.

Students who plan to attend must submit a reply for themselves and may request up to six guest tickets.

Should the graduate response rate be low, the two ceremonies may be combined into one.

Dear members of the JMU Class of 2020,

We are pleased to announce that JMU will be holding in-person Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2020, on Friday, September 3, 2021. We will re-confer degrees and graduates will walk across the stage as their names are called. Ceremonies will be held in the new Atlantic Union Bank Center to guarantee that weather conditions do not affect the ceremonies. Graduates will need to register to participate, and all students and guests will need to have a ticket. Graduates will have a choice of a ceremony at 5:00 p.m.
or one at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Each graduate will need to request a ticket for themselves and up to six tickets for their guests through the RSVP link.

In addition to the commencement ceremonies, graduates will be invited to participate in a number of other events and activities as follows:

D-Hall and E-Hall (from Friday dinner through Sunday brunch)
- Special discount for Class of 2020 to return for some favorite food items
Saturday, September 4, 2021 - College Celebrations at 10:00 a.m.
- Individual College Celebrations will occur across campus and information will be sent via email from the respective colleges
Saturday, September 4, 2021 - JMU Football vs. Morehead State at 6:00 p.m.
- One free ticket will be provided to graduate for Football game (through the RSVP link)
- Additional tickets may be purchased at $14 each
- Seating in sections 6 & 7, adjacent to JMU student sections
- Ticket orders will include one parking pass for Hillside Field (for the first 300 ticket orders)
September 3-5, 2021
- Scavenger Hunt (Alumni Relations is sponsoring this fun activity for you and your friends and family)
- Head to Harrisonburg Downtown's "Best Weekend Ever" celebration that includes tours, shopping and dining specials

The safety and health of graduates, their families and friends, and everyone in the JMU community continue to be the university’s guiding principle as administrators make decisions based on the best information available. JMU is determined to host in-person ceremonies to celebrate the extraordinary and resilient Class of 2020 and may need to adjust attendance requirements for the safety of all attendees. If guests and/or graduates are NOT fully vaccinated, you are asked to please wear a mask at the ceremony.
