Instructor of Nursing
James Madison University
Hello, I am Dr. Kimberly Priode from NC, originally from Virginia. I am very pleased to be a faculty member of JMU. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I went to Radford, as an undergrad, UNC for MSN, and ECU for my Ph.D. My practice as an RN has been as a critical care nurse, supervisor, and administrative director of Neuro/Trauma Intensive Care for many years. I solely practiced for over 18 years and then settled into academics for the past 16 years. I have taught at the ADN level at a Community College, BSN at AppState for around 7 years, a little over 2 years at USC, and just decided to move on from a Dean position at a very small independent college in NC. I missed teaching for sure. I have taught about all courses in the undergrad BSN and RN-BSN programs with a focus on pharmacology, health assessment, and advanced medical surgical. Others included, OB/peds, community, and research. I have taught several graduate level courses and I have served as a DNP dissertation/project chair with several students. A fun fact about me, I have a kitty named Tooter, a Malamute named Manny. I am married to a fella who teaches public school, 9th grade English and baseball coach. So, I know just about anything regarding baseball, I think!
