Students
Group study rooms are available on the second floor of both Hartman Hall and Showker Hall and are designed for group study, not individuals. Individual quiet study space is available on the second floor of Showker Hall.
Currently, all student study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not available for reservations. This may be reevaluated at a later time.
If you are a current student with a CoB major or minor who is in need of a quiet space for a virtual interview on any weekday between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., reserve a room in the EY Professional Development and Undergraduate Programs Suite, located on the first floor of Hartman Hall. There is a changing room available and virtual interview rooms are equipped with computers, cameras and microphones. Please allow two business days for confirmation.
The College of Business information table is available for fundraising, creating awareness for a subject or promoting an upcoming event. Reservations should be made through Virtual EMS. The table is located at the student entrance to Hartman Hall (near Eagle Hall and Champions Drive). Groups should follow the University guidelines when planning information table sessions.
Once the request has been made, the College of Business will let you know whether you will need to complete the JMU Event Approval Form (necessary when handling food or money), which can be found under the ‘Event Forms’ section of the Event Management Website.
Once appropriate signatures are obtained, this form may be submitted to the College of Business Building Manager on the third floor of Hartman Hall, Room 3023 or via email to herrinkl@jmu.edu. All necessary paperwork must be turned in two weeks prior to the event date or the reservation will be canceled.
Chalking space is available for reservation in Virtual EMS. The designated space is directly in front of Showker Hall on the sidewalk. Groups with approved chalking reservations should only chalk appropriate information on the sidewalks. There should be no chalk on the walls or raised areas in front of the building. Failure to follow these rules could result in loss of privileges to chalk.
Student organizations that are affiliated with the College of Business may book classrooms in the College of Business Learning Complex. All such reservations must be done through Virtual EMS at https://ems.jmu.edu.
Classroom spaces will be available for CoB affiliated student organizations Monday-Thursday evenings. CoB classrooms will be locked on Friday afternoons and will remain locked during the weekend. If a weekend reservation is necessary the request must come from the faculty advisor who will also be responsible for ensuring the room is unlocked and locked again upon the conclusion of the reservation.
Academic classrooms are reserved as-is and no food or drink is allowed. Classrooms must remain in learning-ready condition at all times and must be returned to their original condition at the conclusion of an event.
The primary purpose of classrooms is to accommodate academic courses. If there is an academic course need, your event may need to be altered or moved.
Student Organizations that book space in a College of Business classroom should be respectful and aware of the noise generated in and outside of reserved rooms as surrounding areas will have academic events happening.
Any excess trash that does not fit in provided trash receptacles will need to be taken and disposed of properly. Items are not to be left in the room.
Damage to any facility or equipment contained in the facility during an event will be charged to the sponsoring organization and may affect future reservation privileges.
