The minimum requirement for a minor in economics is 18 credit hours in economics, including ECON 200, ECON 201, and at least six credit hours of 300/400 level economics courses.
- ECON 200 - Macroeconomics
- ECON 201 - Microeconomics
- Elective Courses - 12 credit hours of electives required with at least six hours at the 300/400 level
NOTE: Students may not receive credit towards the minor for both ECON 270 and ECON 370.
Declaration Process
Students should submit a declaration of minor request via MyMadison.
Graduation Requirement
The economics minor requires a minimum 2.0 GPA for graduation on all qualifying economics courses completed at JMU. Transfer credit is not calculated in the GPA.
