The Center for Economic Education is an outreach center of the James Madison University College of Business. We promote economic literacy in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia through teacher training and consultation.

We have a lot of help in working toward our mission. We rely heavily on the support of the local community, coordinated through Your Economic Success (YES). This nonprofit organization was founded in the early 1970s to promote teaching about economics and the free enterprise system in the central Shenandoah Valley. Today YES provides the funding necessary to put a full-time teacher consultant in the field to help promote economic literacy.

YES also serves to coordinate funding from the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County schools, which provide additional support for the teacher consultant program. In recognition of this funding, the Center has the Harrisonburg-Rockingham area as its primary service area. Support for economic education is also available by telephone, mail and e-mail for the secondary service area from Buena Vista-Lexington in the south to Winchester in the north.
